Motorcyclist, 56, dies in road collision in Arona
A motorcycle and a car collided late Sunday night on Avenida Antonio Domínguez in the south of Tenerife.
A 56-year-old man died on the night of Sunday 19 July 2026 in a road accident in the Tenerife municipality of Arona, in the south of the island. The crash involved a motorcycle and a car on Avenida Antonio Domínguez, according to the Centro Coordinador de Emergencias y Seguridad (CECOES) 112 of the Gobierno de Canarias.
How the alert was raised
According to official information, CECOES 112 received an alert at 23:45 reporting that a car and a motorcycle had collided and that the motorcyclist needed medical assistance at the scene. The 112 operations room immediately deployed emergency resources.
Witness accounts published by several outlets reported that the rider had been thrown from his vehicle and required urgent medical attention on the public road.
Emergency response
The Servicio de Urgencias Canario (SUC) dispatched an advanced life support ambulance and a basic life support ambulance. On arrival, medical staff found that the motorcyclist had suffered serious injuries and was in cardiorespiratory arrest.
Paramedics performed advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation, but were unable to revive him and confirmed his death at the scene.
Officers from the Policía Local and the Policía Nacional also took part in the response. According to the Gobierno de Canarias, the Policía Local drew up the official accident report to establish the circumstances of the collision, while the Policía Nacional assisted the other emergency services. The Policía Local de Arona also managed traffic in the area around Avenida Antonio Domínguez.
A note on sources
Reporting published by the Gobierno de Canarias news portal and picked up by outlets including El Día, elDiario.es (Canarias Ahora), Atlántico Hoy and Diario de Avisos is consistent on the key details: a 56-year-old victim, the location on Avenida Antonio Domínguez in Arona, the time of the alert (23:45), a collision between a motorcycle and a car, and the involvement of the SUC, the Policía Local and the Policía Nacional.
This incident should not be confused with a separate fatal motorcycle accident that occurred in the same municipality weeks earlier. Several outlets — Diario de Avisos, Diario Siglo XXI, Sol del Sur Tenerife and Canariasenmoto — report a crash on the TF-28 road in the El Mojón area, in which a motorcyclist died after colliding with a hire car. In that case, the alert was received at 19:18 and the Guardia Civil took charge of the investigation. The victim's age differs between those reports: 62 according to Sol del Sur Tenerife, and 63 according to Diario Siglo XXI, Canariasenmoto and Canarias en Red. That is therefore a separate incident from the one that occurred on 19 July on Avenida Antonio Domínguez.
Regarding the 19 July crash, the exact circumstances of the collision between the two vehicles were still to be established through the police report, based on the information available at the time of publication.
