Man injured in house fire in Firgas
The 40-year-old suffered moderate smoke inhalation and superficial burns, and was taken to Hospital Doctor Negrín.
A 40-year-old man was moderately injured in a house fire in the Gran Canaria municipality of Firgas, according to the Canary Islands Government's emergency coordination centre, CECOES 1-1-2.
The incident occurred at 23:32 on Tuesday, 28 July 2026, at a property on Calle Camino Lomo El Pino in the town. CECOES 1-1-2 received the alert and immediately mobilised the necessary emergency resources.
Condition of the injured man
According to the initial assessment by the Canarian Emergency Medical Service (SUC), the man presented with moderate smoke inhalation and superficial burns. After being treated at the scene by paramedics, he was transported by a SUC basic life support ambulance to the Hospital Universitario de Gran Canaria Doctor Negrín, where he continued to receive medical care.
Emergency response
Firefighters from the Consorcio de Emergencias de Gran Canaria extinguished the blaze and subsequently ventilated the property to clear the accumulated smoke. Officers from the Guardia Civil and the Policía Local also took part in the operation, working alongside the other emergency services.
The operation coordinated by CECOES 1-1-2 involved a SUC basic life support ambulance, crews from the Consorcio de Emergencias de Gran Canaria, and Guardia Civil and Policía Local officers.
No information has been released on the cause of the fire or the extent of material damage to the property.
A second house fire the same night in the capital
Earlier that same Tuesday evening, another house fire broke out in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. According to CECOES 1-1-2, at 21:29 a fire was reported at a property on Calle Manuel de Falla, where two children — aged 3 and 4 — suffered moderate smoke inhalation. Both were taken by SUC ambulance to the Hospital Materno Infantil de Canarias.
In that incident, crews from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria's fire, rescue and salvage service extinguished the fire and ventilated the building, while Policía Local and Policía Nacional officers assisted with the operation. Two other people who were present at the scene were treated but declined to be taken to hospital.
